So anyways i finally got my brand new rebuilt quadrajet on today! Car runs like a dream now, i barley touch the pedal and she jumps 😀, but ofcourse installing this carb my stupid kickdown cable decided to brake :puke: ofcourse but anyways thats another story, the old problem i had with my old carb is it would start once and go good but when i turned it off and went to go start it again in like 5-10 mins i would have to start pumping. so today after i got it on i took it for a drive and felt the bad signs of no kickdown cable so i stopped to call my supplier to order a part, that took about 10 mins sitting there. This is gonna be hard to explain but you know when you turn the key and you hear the engine fire but when u stop turning the engine just fired for a brief second then stopped. So i started turning the key again and had to pump a couple of times then it fired up. Just wondering is maybe my fuel pump going out now :blam: . Thanks guys!

Sounds to me like your fuel is draining back

Do you run a mechanical fuel pump :?: I had an old man that had this problem and he put an in-line fluid check valve in his fuel line that runs up to the carburetor

Well whatever was stock that came to the car is was should still be on it. That would be mechanical then right?

:bump:

yes it would be mechanical then. check your filter in between the pump and carb the next time and make sure that there is fuel in there. if not ide say that your pump is bad. It shouldn't be draining back that fast. I know i have to pump mine 1/2 pump if it sits more than a week. Idk if that's normal but it's livible for me.

where is that filter located? Is it the filter inside the carb itself? Anyways there shouldnt be anything wrong with that filter because its brand new.

When i bought the car i found something similar to that in the trunk 😛 Isnt the fuel line metal though?
