How would you go about restoring a center console?

Alright well I got some glazing putty, filled some small holes and what not. I decided I was tired of sanding the damn thing so finished up what I thought was going to be most visible and painted the console. I can definitely spot some areas where I didnt make a smooth enough transition w/ the bondo. I dont think any of it is going to be visible in the car anyways. It's not show quality, but I think it meets my standards for the moment. I'll get some installed pics later.

looks good from what you can see in the pictures. glazing putty is a nice product when used as intended. im working on rebuilding a s10 console lid, gonna have to fiberglass something together as the plastic under the arm rest is broken in half.

Chillin014, that's looks pretty good bro. Well done!

As for cup holders, I searched the net and also Ebay and found several shapes and sizes (different circumferences, and different depths) but they were all made for poker tables. Some are black plastic, but I opted for more durable stainless steel. I made sure to order a set with the correct depth to fit into my custom console (2.5" deep), and also the right circumference to fit a standard pop can (although I don't think I will allow anyone in the car with pop, just bottled water). Also the set I ended up ordering was $10 for a set of 10 cupholders + shipping -- so it was cheap enough. I gave the other 8 away already!

If you get stainless steel ones, you can always get them powdercoated black if you don't like that finish.

Thank you. That's what I kept finding, the plastic poker table ones. Do you remember where you found the SS ones? I think that would go well with my console. Unless I stagger them, I'm only going to be able to fit one of them in there.
I'm not big on drinks in the car either but sometimes it just happens. Otherwise I have my cell phone in the cup holder haha.

I just bought one cup holder that was 3-1/4 deep, now you got me thinking its going to bottom out. No biggie, it was cheap.

Installed the console today with the armrest and everything. I think the paint is a little too glossy but I can always change that later. Otherwise, short of not having a cup holder for the moment, I'm happy with it. I will figure out the mounting later this week, I'm so happy to have an armrest and a storage compartment other than the glovebox. It feels more comfortable now, and the armrest is a little tribute to my Maxima which was totaled in December. It was my first car and it's been hard adjusting to driving the elky every day.

I can't remember where I found them, but it was off ebay. You'd probably get a better deal off Google though. I've seen some 10 cupholder sets for $25 on Amazon.

If it bottoms out, you can always cut out the carpet and underpadding below the console to make them fit! 😉
By the way, I'm staggering two cupholders in mine, it's too tight side-by-side, and I really want two of them in there.
And since you mentioned cell phone, I'm actually embedding an iPhone base into mine as well, in front of the 2 cupholders. That way I can just slip my iPhone in there and it will charge, it will be on display towards me, and if I want, I can play music from it too (just finished wiring it all up today and it works!!!). Just an idea for you to ponder 😉

And you console looks awesome bro!
