oh that changes things a bit i would guess 400 bucks then. maybe a bit less, but the best way to find out is to get out and do some shopping lol. I think i can pull off the side pipe look because my theme is "hot rod regal". but seriously if anyone knows about them melting tires lemme know.

I say do it. However it might just be too loud. Go into it knowing that and you'll be fine. I've heard lots of cars that dumped underneith and sound mean, like my buddys 71 Hemi 'Cuda with a HUGE cam..... nothing nicer. Just know you might not like it and may have to add some extra pipe later. :?

For all the aggravation, it won't be worth it. The drone will make your ears bleed and you will gradually go deaf. Tinnitus is not fun and it lasts a lifetime.

noworries about it melting your tires I had it that way on my 64 chevy II with a 427sbc full lenght headers in to a 3" hpipe and bullets never even made the tires hot

while we are asking this, what about with the flowtech headers, 2' of pipe, flowmaster mufflers, about another foot of pipe then exit on both sided in front of the rear tire? probably 2.5 pipe. ive no experience with side exit exaust, but will this like heat up/melt my tires? lol

That will not work. The back of the muffler is pretty much even with the mounting point for the lower control arm. There is no where for the extra pipe to go. Another foot and you're past the rear end already. Exhaust will not melt your tires. Try holding your hand next to your tailpipe when your car is running. It's warm, but it's not hot.

In order for it to work like you'd like, you'd need mufflers like the '70 AAR Cuda and T/A Challenger had, where the inlet and outlet are both on the front of the muffler, and a tight bend directs the exhaust out the side at a 45* angle.

hmmm id really like to the dumps due to me hating the look of the pipes coming out the back or slanted behind the rear wheels on gbodys...the reason i bought the aerochambers is because i heard they have little to no drone compared to other mufflers like 40 series flowmasters. i guess ill try it out knowing what may happen. any ideas on the price to have all this installed?

There is a huge difference between loud and drone.

ANY muffler dumped under the car will cause considerable drone. It's air, being pumped under a giant metal structure. What does it sound like when you talk into a bucket? Same concept. The sound has no clear path to escape.
I have Hooker Aerochambers on my Caprice. They exit all the way out the back, and it still has a drone at certain rpm's.

It's your car, and you can do what you wish, I'm just trying to warn you. Besides, if you get it set up, and you don't like it, it won't be hard for an exhaust shop to add the over the axle tubes and tailpipes.

Don't know if this will help but i have flowtech headers, 2.5 or 2.25 pipe all the way no X, no H, no cats, just straight pipes into flowmaster series 40's then out behind the rear tires.

The Malibu sounds pretty good! That color though! Never noticed it before, only the 2nd car ive seen that shade of green, kinda stands out! My brothers 77 Chevelle Malibu Classic is that green. Sorry for wandering off topic! 😳
