Does anyone know how to make a h/o rear axle posi or tell me if i have open diff?

IF doing a burnout one tire spins but if you make a hard turn and accelerate hard the left tire spins and the right does nothing. this is driving me insane thought I had lsd diff.

Sorry thats not a limited slip

You need a posi unit from Auburn or Eaton and maybe some new axles. 8.5" rears in the Gbodys were all posi units. Its possible that the posi unit you have may be worn out or its a 7.5" unit which may have been swapped out earlier. Does the rear end cover have a tag on it? If it says "use limited slip fluid only" on it, then its a posi unit. Check the sticker under the trunk lid for build codes which will tell ya what it came w/from the factory.

wth? Not all 8.5" rears in G-body's were limited slip! That'd be like saying all Buicks had power windows & door locks

I guess its possible that it was an option that a select few ordered at the dealer. But I cannot see why an H/O would be equipped w/out the bigger, posi diff.....

I posi was always just an option for the gbodies regardless if it was a 7.5" or 8.5".

Well, every SSMC, H/O, and GN that I have come across in my yrs all had the posi. So forgive me for my assumptions... 😳

Then you just got lucky with your findings. Limited Slip/Posi was an option, but not expensive like $30-50. I remembered looking at them on the showrooms, and on the lots that it should of been included as a standard option on the Hurst's, 442's, SS, 2+2's, and GN's, but it wasn't. My 83 H/O, 85 442, and 86 442 didn't have it. But quite a few Salon's, and Supremes did have it with their lame hwy gears.
