oaky guys I need some help cause I am out of "oh I think it is this" here is what I have done so far:

1978 Buick Regal
3.8 Motor 350 trans
103k
Driving yesterday and and the car was running "okay" and she was idling a lil rough came to a stop and she just died and would not refire for anything luckily I was close to home and it was downhill so I coasted home

Replaced:
Starter
HEI Module
Coil
Cap n rotor
Spark plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter

All these things I was going to do anyway so after wards I go to fire it back up and she WILL NOT FIRE I took the distributor out and put back to TDC just in case, I rechecked the fuel to make sure I was getting fuel, I check to make sure I had hot while cranking on the coil/HEI. I check for spark

What the hell am I missing? I sure could use some help/suggestions thank in advance seeing as this is my daily driver!

check yer valve lash on the push rods, ya might have broke one or yer carb gasket took a dump.

Okay will check that it seems as though the car is just turning over with no "resistance" at all as if I got no compression but that cant be because it was running okay prior to all of this

This sounds like the timing chain gave up. Classic cause. Do a compression test, it'll tell you for sure.

Hook up a timing light, and have someone crank the engine while you're watching the light. If it jumped time, or broke a timing gear or chain, you'll find out.

Okay will check those things as well, would a flooded carb (2bl) cause these symptoms? I looked down the throat of the carb and it seems as though the fuel is just being spit into to there (constantly wet the minute you try and turn it over) because sometimes it acts like it want to "catch" and sometimes it won't.

As I said it was driving pretty good and I cam to a stop and it just died on me.

Okay checked timing with timing light and it looks like the timing chain is still intact (but what would it look like if it wasn't?)

check your plugs to see if they are gas or oil fouled also, but that just will diagnose another problem, also do a spark check to make sure you are getting fire to the plugs. and check all of your vaccumm lines if on came off or is just plain ole busted your car will be very hard to start.

You would have no flash of bulb. The distributor wouldn't turn, so the light wouldn't catch a spark signal.
