You said the carb was soaking wet basically? I'm wondering if the float stuck open, it'll prbably never start that way. I have an idea to test that theory. Disconnect your fuel line from the carb and reconnect it to a hose to a 5 gal bucket. Now you won't have a fuel source to flood the engine. Then remove the spark plugs, crank the engine a few seconds to get the fuel out of the cylinders. Dry the plugs and reinstall them. -Now try starting it with some starting fluid sprayed into the carb. It should start and run a few seconds at a time, and it's kind of hard to spray too much, it evaporates fast. If it starts like normal and then shuts off right away, you've found the problem.

Just an idea

Will try that one when i return form jury duty (ughhh), yeah the throat of the carb is just soaked even with a dry carb (in the morning) all I do is turn the car over and then go back to check the carb and it is soaked which tells me its just dumping.

Okay guys it looks as though it may be a timing chain issue, but the timing light still illuminates?? AWhen I start it it sounds as though the starter is turning but no compression is there??

Pull off the fuel cap/gas cap replace the sparkplugs and try again. The fuel tank is getting pressurized and the gas is flowing back into the carb causing it to flood. BTDT..
