So I've broken a second torque converter. I think its the broken sprag in the picture. It was a Hughes 2000 stall BPO, Replaced it with the heavy duty sprag version. We'll see how it holds up.

What engine?

I broke one of the Oregon Performance 2000 to 2600 stall converters. It acted like a 4000 stall.

Buick 455 / th400, both a little warmed over

I ran a 1400/4000 switch pitch for years behind my 455 Skylark until it finally crapped out. I was looking at this very same Hughes converter for my 519 Caddy build. Now I’m wondering. I was thinking Holeshot 2400 Nitrous converter but I really didn’t want 2400 stall.

The one i just replaced was a standard Hughes 2000 BPO. The new one has the heavy duty sprag. On the two converters I broke both times it was the sprag that went. Hopefully this one will hold up, It was about $100 more. I got about ywo years out of the last one.

Bustin' parts is cool. Until you have to fork over the $$ to fix the stuff. Good luck with your TC. Perhaps if this next one doesn't hold up, you think Hughes wouldn't be your next converter of choice. Two strikes already sort of thing.
