Re: i hope i dont jinx myself with this thread...i've got it

i just got this engine about 30ish minutes ago. it came with: headers, edelbrock intake, fuel pump, exhaust manifolds, HEI distributor, new in box chrome valve covers, factory aluminum blade fan with clutch, water pump, alternator, power steering pump, all accessory brackets and a 9 inch tail th400 minus convertor. it also has the rear sump pan so that doesnt need to be changed!

i think i just need a carb, mounts and a few odds and ends in theory get it in the car and running. it's missing belts for the accessories, bolts for the exhaust, carb and air cleaner and some other minor stuff.

all for the rock bottom price of 500 bucks! major score. now i need to get rid of the 350 block on my stand and get the 472 on it.

yeah i need to strip it down to the long block and go over the whole exterior. i think i'm going to have the heads rebuilt since they have all these plugs in them and it doesnt look like the engine has ever been rebuilt so i'll get that done for peace of mind. i'm probably going to leave the rotating assembly alone as long as the cylinder walls look good and maybe replace all the freeze plugs in the block. i'm thinking of eventually having it stroked but i need a stronger rear end first before i add even more torque to the equation. i dont like chrome so i probably wont use the chrome valve covers. i'm going to stick with the theme of keeping it looking stock, like how it would look if the car came with the engine originally. por15 has the right color paint for the engine and summit has it, only 23 bucks for a pint.

i gotta get off the driveway first though! it is HEAVY and without a cherry picker i'm gonna have to disassemble it somewhat which fits in with what i want to do anyway so it's no big deal.
