I need all of you guys' opinions

The firing order is all good now but the engine won't start ??? !!! You have to be leaving a lot of details out.
 
im sorry, im having trouble keeping up with the car too. i have come to the conclusion that the car is a bi-polar woman during P.M.S. The car didnt want to start originaly after we fixed the firing order, so we thought that the timeing chain stretched and jumped time. the Next day went to push the car out of the way and said "what the hell" and gave the car an attempt to start.... it did so without a hitch.

it started and and everything is back to where i begain at the first of this post except the oil pump is good and there is now problem with the oil pressure. Firing order is also in check now

here is what is wrong with it right now --- motor shakes violently only when it starts, then smooths out completely
--- still has a light taping noise as if its a lifter.
--- oil smells absolutely horrible like tarnished gas
 
you might have carb problems.float might be stuck and flooding out the motor.your choke might be not working properly either.did you make sure you got out all of the 'solevent' you used to desludge motor ?I would pull a spark plug and inspect that will tell you alot .

I don't know what it is but I hate when people say a timing chain jumps time. I have never seen this. I have seen a timing chain slapping the side of the timing cover but still was not enough slack to "jump tooth". I have built a sh*t ton of engines and.never seen this. The only way I've seen that is with the POS nylon crank gear but that thing shreds and messes everything up.

What kind of carburetor do you have? When the engine is running, look in it while running and see if excessive fuel is being dumped in. Is it hard starting?
 
it has the stock quadra-jet(quadra-junk) in it. the car is usualy hard to start, and there seems to always be excess gas all over the carb.

The Quadra-Jet, in the opinion of many, is the finest carburator every made.
Quadra-Junk is what you have when a moron tries to work on a Quadra-Jet!
Maybe the carb is as dirty as the inside of your engine was before you got the sludge out. Try some of the carb cleaning products. If you have access to another carb that is known to be good, bolt it on and see if it works. If not buy a rebuilt carb.

could be a bad gasket or stuck float.these carb get a bad rap but when working properly and adjusted correctly ,they get better mpg and throttle response than any other carb i have used.my 84 monte has a ccc quadrajet on it and if iam driving it regularly it starts instantly ,just as fast as my fuel injected daily driver.
 
i working on the gauges some more right now and i have seemed to get the temp and oil gauge to work, still no luck at the moment with the gas and voltage though.--- it is amazing where one can find rats nest!
my dad and i are going to take the valve covers off to see if one or more of the lifters or rockers are bad on the motor. How and what of the emissions(stuff?) needs to come off so we can even get to the valve covers. Also wondering if i could just bypass all the emissions(stuff?) and if i even need it because my smog pump is locked-up(also no longer on the car). i live in ohio so i know emisions laws arent a big deal, s if the car was to stay here there would be no problem, but im moving to Pennsylvania.

i have video of the car running now so everyone can here the car run to help get a better idea of what is wrong with the car--- i should have it added here hopefuly by tonight
