I tried to post this with the links but, is not working so I will give you the part numbers.

BIG-11152FLT
HED-58070

I was wondering what would be the better quality for my money. The flowtechs have a bigger flange but, is cheaper. Would I just be payin more for a name with the Hedmans, or are they actually better?

Sorry dude, I'd like to help you but I can't say anything for sure. Except, obviously finish/material makes a difference. And I know you can get different size tubes from different companys. I've got hookers on my monte and they fit pretty good and clear everything on both sides, but I had a buddy that got something else that wouldn't go in without lifting the motor quit a bit then when we got it all togeather the damn starter was too big so we had to go get a mini. As far as specifics I can't really say but hookers seem to fit pretty good. Good luck.

for the $40 i'd go with the hedman's. they have a better warranty and are known to be of a very high quality. the flanges aren't so much a different size as a different style. the flowtechs have the traditional flat faced, 3-bolt flange while the hedmans have a more GM/OEM style ball and socket. this allows for the exhaust to move without stressing anything when the engine torques over.
be warned if you use the headers for the break in the paint will be TOAST! and if you get a ceramic coating it will also be killed by break in.
also, full length headers like that are known to have ground clearence issues.
you may also wish to read the instructions on each to see how much it'll take to get them in.

Thanks for the info. As for getting them in, I dont think it should be much of a problem. I have all of the front suspension and steering out, and I will be putting in the engine before I put it all back together. I hope this will make things easier as far as clearance issues. I have also heard about headers clearing the upper control arms, so I will go with tubular ones.

Is there anything that can be done to help with the toasting of the paint, like putting a few coats of exhaust paint on before or after breakin? Luckily I am starting off with cheap ones so it wont be much of a loss if they do get trashed. I am planning on getting better stuff for the engine later on but , I just wanna get it running and driving for now.
