I use to use the silver conductive paste that you use with your computer processor fan

That would probably work pretty good. I've also seen the white grease used for that same thing. I'm wondering if that stuff is better than the grease that is supplied with the module?

I used the heat sink compound that came with the module.

I have had no luck with ignition systems in this car. After the HEI failed twice, once a coil and the second time a module, I bought all new Mallory Promaster components. The Hyfire 6A box is fried so that is being sent in for repairs over the winter.

I'm thinking that you don't really need anything fancy for ignition components in these cars unless you're racing at the track and really need a rev limiter.

A standard high quality HEI such as one from DUI should would just fine in a SBO for many years of service.

I liked the simplicity of the HEI, but now I have some money invested in this new Mallory Promaster distributor, coil and the hyfire 6A box.

I looked at the mallory distributor you have and it sure looks like they have joined up with msd. It looks like the MSD 85551 and has the same part number with an M added to it.

I agree the stock HEI is plenty powerful. What is it good for, 40,000 volts? Plenty for the street. The only thing ever broke on me in 30 years was the pickup coil leads.

The parts look identical to me. I actually prefer the HEI for a cleaner look. Maybe I will just sell the Mallory stuff and try to recover some cost.
