Ignition problem

Also could you tell me how to get the needed pieces out of the column to inspect them to make sure they are not broke. John

consider replacing the 'neutral safety switch' while the steering wheel is off. It's only a few dollars but if it doesn't work the car won't start either.

G-bodies do not have neutral safety switches, just the mechanical interlock in the column. There is nothing to replace.

My 3 speed t350 trans car definitely does have a neutral safety switch. My other car has a 200r4 but I have never had the steering wheel off so idk if it does. I'll take your word for it though blake. You're miles ahead of where I'm at

Clutch switch.

Put the car with the automatic transmission in any gear other than park or neutral and try to rotate the ignition lock cylinder to the crank position. There is a mechanical lockout inside the steering column that will not allow you to.

On computer controlled cars there is a park neutral park switch at the base of the column that sends a signal to the computer if you are in gear or not.

you're going to need some very simple tools and some special tools to disassemble your steering column. other than a Phillips head screwdriver and some small sockets you will need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate tool you may even need a pivot pin removal tool if you have tilt steering. .I would start by searching the internet for a steering column write up

I have the steering wheel lockplate signal cam horn contact and lock cylinder and ignition switch at the.bottom of the column already out. What I want is to get the actuator rod and associated out to free the binding up. Is there a relative easy way to get that out or is it a lot more complicated

Thank you to all that has been involved in this project. PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. THANK GOD. THANKS AGAIN. JOHN
