Just brought my 85 ss, went to turn key, and it turned rather then usual. No lights, no power or crank when I turn the key. So one said change the ignition cylinder lock which I did and still nothing. The some said the actuators rod may went bad. Im not sure what’s wrong. Should I buy new steering column. Which is pretty expensive

The key just turns freely it has no kick back like when you turn it on and it kicks key back it’s not doing anything like that

lower the column and check the rod at the ignition switch to see if it moves when you turn the key
