Ignition Timing Curve and Fuel Delivery

On the contrary. Been nothin BUT guesswork. In hindsight I wish I just went with the carbed version. I even priced out the cost of swapping it out. Woulda cost me a LOT more to do that. Another option was, shoulda gone with GM crate, tried and tested and reliable etc. I would've saved so much money and TIME in the build. But I'm working thru it instead, in the end it'll have more HP than the other options.

Sorry OP didn't mean to hijack. Hope you figure things out.

One thing I have to check is that the fuel filter isn't full of sediment.

What is the diameter of the stock fuel line? How much HP could it support?

I'm not sure about the Cutty, but my Monte has a 3/8 stock size fuel line. With a high volume mechanical fuel pump,it supports 550 + HP .Did you check distributor & wires as suggested above ??

This morning I pulled the fuel filter apart and replaced the element. There was some crud in it but not enough to limit fuel flow in my opinion. Took the car out for a drive it runs like absolute garbage now. Won't idle, sputters and hesitates. Feels like its running on 4 cylinders.

I checked over everything in the distributor again. All my connections are good, firing order is right, wires are clipped on. Not sure where to go next here.

How about pulling each plug wire one at a time and run the motor. Check for any difference. To ensure spark at each cyl. In case of bad plug wire. Then check plugs themselves. Just before spending any $$$, easy check.

I went over everything carefully. I am pretty sure I have it narrowed down to a carb/fuel delivery issue. It still backfires at high rpm starting around 5000. I think it is a fuel delivery problem but I won't know more until I have time to take the carb off and have a look. It's a Holley 770cfm street avenger.
