Ignition upgrade?

My buddy is using the Davis unified distributor in his 403 Olds Cutlass. I'm using the Accel Blueprint distributor with the same coil as the Davis unit. Taylor 8mm wires NGK V-power plugs. Otherwise nothing fancy.

I think the Davis unit would be a good choice. They set it up according to your cars specs.

that's the nice thing about the E curve...I can set up the curve any way I want with 2 dials in the distributor. I use this program to set it up

Now THAT is very interesting. Dial the advance according to the conditions, and eliminate detonation. I think I want that for Christmas.

it is a nice distributor to work with and easy to set up. There are no springs or weights and you can try out different settings to see how it runs. You just punch in the numbers you want and it tells you what to set the dials at. I can set it up to have more or less advance at idle and curve it any way I want to hit the max vacuum at the revs I want. That program cost me a whole $3.99... :shock:

oh there is a 3rd dial in the distributor to set the rev limiter..

Im trying to get my hands on a stock HEI distributor right now. Ive stripped the airpump, EGR, Charcoal canister, and the gay feedback carb off so far. Carb was replaced with a 650 Holley DP. But the distributor I have to change becuase theres no vacuum adv. on it as its not an HEI. Kinda a dog out of the hole when I put fuel to it lol. I know a stock dist. adjusted is just as good as a aftermarket one. But was wondering more about coils n such. I have a close friend of the family who will build the stock dist for me with a new curve and whatever. I just got to get my hands on one lol.

can't beat that price...we run one in the race car and it ever skips a beat...
