bought the sending units for my cutlass today, (oil and temp)..change oil first no problem everything went in smooth,.. go to change temp, ok unscrewing it out of the intake, forgetting that i started the car up 10 min before changing them, and yep coolant shoots out hitting me square in the face lol, and man it did not taste or feel too good, haha..

idiot lmao j/k I leaned on a rad cap one time on my 78 4dr after it slung the waterpump belt and it exploded all over one side of me and burned me really really bad

ouch, yea i got my share of scars, the other day taking fan off the water pump slipped with the wrench and cut the top of my hand, was bleeding a decent amount, but ignored it, then taking the radiator hose of the water pump.. and yea it all shot out onto my hand and stung like a b**** but of coarse me not thinking shoulda drained the radiator before i did that lol

Would've helped if the car was cooled down too  But yeah, coolant is a major pain when it starts leaking everywhere... slippery, stinks, and it finds your cuts for you :x

Anyone that does not have a story like that, paid someone else to build their car! Weve all done it, most just won't admit to it.

Hey, if we have all done it, and you are calling yourself an idiot for doing it, are you calling all of us idiots? lol

My best "I'm an idiot." story is something I did on my first car, a 1969 Chevelle, when I was 15 or 16. It had those bolt-on ladder bars popular in the 1970's and 1980's, and one of the front mounts had moved around and made a large hole where the bolt attached to the frame. So, I took the traction bars off. Note, these are not the same thing as the slapper bars used on leaf spring cars IN ADDITION to the rear leaf springs to control axle wrap & wheelhop. These actually bolt in IN PLACE of the rear lower control arms. This became very obvious when I lowered the car off the jackstands, and drove it about 50' before everything collapsed. If I remember correctly, the rear end rolled down, the driveshaft fell out, and the car dropped. Was able to put it all back together without any problems, and the only injury was my ego. 😳
