I'm an Idiot!

i work in a tire shop and just the other day, i was prying on a small lawn tire. the bar slipped and i smacked myself right in the face with it. knocked my hat off and left a nice little bump above my eyebrow. im sure i got plenty more stories ill post as i remember them but, this one was still fresh in my mind, and on my face!

back when i was 19 or 20, i drove a 77 GMC sprint. it was the greatest beater ever! i paid $230 for it and drove it for almost 2 years. the starter went out so i changed it one day. noticed a few days later it would spark under the car every now and then. i looked and the battery cable was REALLY close to the manifold heat shield. well, i didnt have time to fix it right then as i was working 2 jobs, so i was gonna fix it on my next day off. well, before i got the chance to, i came home from my first job to get ready for my pizza delivery job. i ran in the house, got changed for work and went back outside to see a firetruck next to my car! yep, im an idiot!

hahaha nice stories guys 😀 but it's a good thing no one has gotten seriously hurt, then it just wouldn't be funny.. but i have another one i was doing some body work on the cutlass today, using the bondo to fix up some stops... and yea its messy and all over my hands, took a rag and got it pretty much all off, it was kinda hot out, so my lil bro comes out with a chocolate Klondike bar, i'm thinking to myself yummy! 🙂 well as i'm eating it its kinda messy and drips on my knuckle i go to lick the drip of chocolate off my knuckle and didn't see the glob of bondo right next to the drip.. lol and that didn't tast good at all! haha

i don't know if it's one of my MANY idiot stories but it was a close call.
my friend had a problem with the front end on his 200? grand am. so i go outside his job pull the jack out of his car, put up the car and pull the tire. my head is under the control arm when i just had a weird feeling. as i start to pull my head out, the jack collapses! luckily it was just the front bumper that smashed my face into the asphalt. 🙁 i walked inside mcdonalds with asphalt on one side of my face and blood on the other  at least i wasn't still under the LCA!!!!

or the time i was using a punch and hammer to try and force a rusted bolt out of the rear LCA on the monte. i had the punch jammed in the hole and so i SLAMMED it with the hammer. i don't know if the bolt moved, but the punch sure did! straight at my left eye. good thing i was wearing my glasses instead of contacts.

Not really an idiot story, but today I was replacing the motor on the window regulator for my truck, and I smashed my thumb. 12 hours later it's still quite tender 😳

I've hurt myself plenty of times, but all I'll say is to be thankful you've never sandblasted yourself... The only thing worse than the pain that came after it was watching it go across my skin...

And I don't mean those small ones... this ****er was one of the biggins...

i guess my idiot story is that i was working on the ebrake on my cutlass ( on a hill) and the it was all locked up so i put it neutral to tray to spin it any way i could and when i had it all sorted out and returned the car to the ground i forgot to put it back in park and it went rolling and eventually yhrough my garage door and was pretty close to taking out my dads trans am, in the end my cutlass is pretty invincible and the garage door took all the abuse and all i got was one little scratch on my car

Ok, confession time. I just finished my son's 1978 wagon complete remake the first week of June; engine, 700R4, complete suspension upgrade, aluminum radiator, 108 amp alternator, custom bent hard lines for the rubber hoses in the engine compartment, IROC quick ratio steering box, etc.

Staying up late, once again, while trying it get it done prior to his arrival home in May for his 2.5 weeks of leave from the Air Force Academy, I put the front suspension together. Very nice; painted, clean, stainless steel fasteners. When Joel gets home and he and my oldest son put the front tires on they come in about 12am and tell me the tires won't turn without hitting the upper control arm. The fix? Take the suspension apart and put the Upper control arms on the correct side !!! I had put the left on the right and the right on the left. DUMBO.

I went to bed knowing I needed some good sleep and to forget about the wagon's "to do" list. wow. Can't believe I confessed that.
