I'm ready to put new dash speakers in my G Body. It is a 1988 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham, I was just wondering are they 3.5" or 4" speakers? Also, any recommendations as far as speakers go?

3.5" in the dash. Are you looking for component speakers ( run thru an amp ) or something you are going to wire up directly to your head unit ?

Either way they are a tight fit and require some patience to install. When it comes time to replace mine I will be going with Infinity Reference just based on a friends recommendation and sound from his Envoy

Cruchfield will show what fits ( I chose an 84 Monte which will be the same as other gbody cars )

Crutchfield says 4" but they look more like 3.5's to me. And yes directly wired to the headunit. I have infinitys in there now which the previous owner installed without bass blockers and I'm sure that's why they are blown. I'm thinking about a kicker set I saw on crutchfield for like 49.99.

They are 3.5" speakers.

I used to run a set of JBL's that sounded fine. You definitely need bass blockers. They really help clean up the sound and obviously help keep them from blowing.

I got mtx 3 ways in my dash 200 Watts too. They where a b*tch to install but sound great. I put bass blockers on them too.

If you click off the front speaker selection you will see they are 3.5". Bass Blockers ( running an in-line capacitor ) will help. The Infinity Kappa has a built in crossover to keep you from cooking them as well if you are just running them off the deck.

Like I said good luck with the install, you need a shoehorn and a 90deg screwdriver to install the front speakers ( unless you take out the windsheild ). The PO installed a 3.5 speaker in the orig location and a set of 3/4" dome speakers in each the A/C vents either side of the dash ( he said he could not fit larger speakers in the dash ). Next upgrade I think I will put the concermaster lower door panels in to bring a little more sound up front.

To get the screws in and out I just used a regular 3/8" drive socket that is made to hold bits. Alternatively you could use a 1/4" hex socket and a bit would fit in there too.

This might sound funny but my mtx 3 ways where a lil to tall so I greased the dash and windshield and it slid right in lol. It was just slightly to tall. But I also had to modify my grills also so I could install them back in. small sacrifice in looks for way better sound in my opinion.

I used 4" front center dash loudspeakers from an '05-up Caddy CTS. They sound so awesome this is the only front dash speaker I will run anymore-it's a factory Bose speaker rated @ 70w., 45 RMS.
