I recently swapped a 305 TBI out of a caprice for my brother in his 83 cutlass. I'm using the factory engine harness for the engine and I believe I have it all hooked up correctly. The issue I am having is when I turn the key on an crank the fuel spray out of the injectors doesn't seem to have the prime cycle for the first start. If you prime it with gas it will fire and there after without having to prime it. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I'm by no means a electrical expert.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What fuel pump are you using?

Its a factory in tank type that I made a pickup for. It has good fuel pressure, I thinking its in the wiring. I have to supply a wire for the spark control module in order to get the injectors to pulse.

I'm no FI expert, but I find this is normal for most- ( TBI from '89 Olds manual) "Electric fuel pump operation is controlled by a fuel pump relay. When the ignition switch is turned to "run" position, the fuel pump relay activates the electric fuel pump for 1.5 to 2.0 seconds to prime the injector." Then if the ECM receives a spark signal, (reference pulse) it stays on, if not, it shuts off.
