this guy has tons of tips, I've used a lot of them to make my computer faster. it boots up completely in less than a minute, before it took a few minutes, and it searches very fast on IE. Do a search in the box on the right side for just about anything you're lookin for. For some reason firefox doesn't like my computer

I also have been thinking (on a completely new tangent) about getting a Linux netbook, so I can try something other than Windows. I have Vista on my big laptop, and it is kinda slow to boot. I have done plenty of tweaking to it to get it faster than it was, but am not that satisfied with it. I figure a good Linux like Ubuntu or Debian might provide a nice alternative on a more basic machine. I may even play with a ultra-light version of Linux if I get a small netbook with a SSD instead of a normal hard disc drive. I figure I could be fine with an 8-16gb SSD if I forgo all the bells and whistles. Plus, Linux is not a big target for viruses and worms, so I can go without much of the normal security measures you need on a Windows machine. I found an older model Eee PC on sale as a refurb for $129, and I may get it if I can make some money this weekend.
