what makes you say cracked head?

x2 my first thought was a bad intake gasket.

Assuming the head was cracked would that have allowed water in the head or the head not to seat/seal right? And would the corrosion on the rockers indicate that the water was also running through the oil passages and not just in and out the combustion chamber? Just curious?

surprisingly the oil is clean And the motor ran good before being pulled.i don't know wether to have this one rebuilt or go with a crate from jegs for $1400.what does a rebuild cost these days?

I have 1800.00 in my rebuild with the engine builder

that included:

all headwork 3 angle grind and guides with hardening the seats, it was a 72
cook the block magnaflux all parts
new pistons and rings
bore 30 over
install cam bearings
freeze plugs
new crank kit
recondition rods
assemble short blocK

Basically brand new engine, what I get for being dead set on a Buick 350
