guys I found a 81 v6 Malibu that's seams to be in good condition, but I don't really know if the price is worth the money. It needs some care in the interior and paint. ...what has me thinking is the v6 motor. I haven't Sean the car because it's in another state. Help me decide if it worth it...

Looks pretty decent. Need images of the door bottoms, rocker panels, and rear frame rails to give better advice. Has a clear title, yes?

V6 is not a big deal, because 90% of G body fans are going to make a swap anyway. My wagon with a 267 might as well be a V6, as weak a performer as it is. Can't get it out of the car soon enough, and the only upside to it over a V6 is it has the correct mounts/bracketry for a V8.

IMO, at this point in time, body and chassis are THE most important components. Especially with coupes, pretty much anything you need is available.

Motor mount holes in the frame are already drilled for a Chevy small-block, and the transmission mounts are the same as well. GM did us a favor making the engines and transmissions universal. The only things you need to seek out are a V8 fan shroud and throttle cable. The V6 fuel line can be extended or replaced.

According to seller there is no rust, clean title, has the documentation of sale back then. Car has 98k mile showing in the dashboard . It has a small tear in one seat and need a head liner, run great. He asking 6k for it. I ev been struggling with him with the price, but the lowest he will go is $5500.

If it is completely rust free it's not bad. That seems to be the going rate. I would pay closer to 4 for that though. That's just me. Also it is not an 81 unless it was a typo or they changed the dash and grill lights and such.

Here's a little nudge to point you in the right direction.

Mine started life as a v6

sometimes if you show up with cash in hand they change their mind...too bad it's out of town.
