Is Underhood Insulation Necessary?

Yeah, mine is just very old. It has a lot of dust trapped in it and it seems brittle. I don't want to risk damaging the paint as it is already getting thin and fading on the hood. I know mikesmonte.com sells some underhood insulation for the car so I'll probably just go that route. I want to car to look original so I don't want to go buying some aluminum stuff that says Dynamat on it.
