I finally finished butchering my floor and it is off the jackstands and ramps for the first time since November!!! Yaaay! Now I can finish the body and paint the damn thing. The only problem is, the front end was on ramps and the back end on jack stands with the wheels dangling, so now it looks jacked up because the springs have lost their set...

Sorry.... I just had to share this with the class...lol

get a pick of the jacked up stance haha

I should.... It has lowering springs on it (so the front is slammed), and 225 60's rear and 225-50's front right now, so it is about a 3 inch difference. The tires were the only used ones I could find at the time to make the car drivable. Also, the car is gutted, so there is a huge amount of weight missing. I will try to post a pic tomorrow of my progress so far.... Maybe I should start a build thread.

Well, here's a pic or three of how it looks in my driveway. With any luck, I may actually be able to leave the driveway in the near future.

I am hoping to have it ready for paint by the end of next week, so hopefully it will look a lot better soon!

I tend to like things more level and BMW like. My Cutlass is set up for handling, so I am trying to keep the rake to a minimum. I even have done calculations to determine how to optimize the weight distribution, etc. You really would have to see it in person to appreciate how high the *ss end looks in relation to the nose.

Well, I'm working on a Mechanical Engineering degree, so I tend to be a bit on the anal side when it comes to technical things. I was able to change it on paper from the original 60/40 to a still not excellent 55/45( Aluminum heads, aluminum hood, aluminum radiator, aluminum core support, aluminum bumper support, speaker box and amps in trunk, aluminum water pump, etc). I have more ideas as to how to change it, but it would require so much fabrication and alteration as to make it unrecognizable in a mechanical sense( rack and pinion steering, aluminum front suspension, heavier IRS in the rear, LSX engine, maybe a rear transaxle, or moving the front wheels forwards by 10 inches). Plus, doing so would probably make it less reliable, which tends to make it less fun.

This car likely will not receive the most radical set of modifications, but rather some more normal bolt ons instead. One day, I may buy another car to really alter to suit my ideas, but this one has too much sentimental value to me to risk screwing it up. My grandfather bought it for me in 1993, and I keep it partially for that reason. If I were to choose another starting point, it would probably be a Malibu coupe as I have always liked their looks.
