We are going back to the track tomorrow weather permitting. Going to try and get this thing into the 7's. Going to put more timing in the thing and try to launch harder. I will post times when I get home.

Blue86Monte's Build

Went down to the track for the last time this year. Car didn't run to bad, badly in need of a shift kit and bigger stall, which is on the to-do list for this winter. Enjoy, comments welcome

Picked up a 8.5 rear off a guy on MR. Traveled 3.5 hours both ways but the rear was worth it. Guy was very straight up with me and worked on the price. Rear has 4.30 gears C-clip elimators, Spool, Hardened axles along with new brakes. Can't wait to put it in along with my WOLFE double adjustable uppers and lowers. Will get pics up tomorrow when I get home from school. Finals are next week so not much to be done on the car.
Progress update on the car: Cleaned up ALOT of wires, installed manual steering box, manual brakes going on the car after christmas, and ripped out the A/c box. If anyone has a cheap block off plate I'm in the market. Also have my 7.5 rear out of the car for sale. Welded Spider gears, 4.10's with 2 Series carrier. Brakes aren't even a year old. Comes with a set of good drums.
Thanks for looking, Cory

Car is looking good!! was just wondering what manual steering box you went with and how do you like it?? thanks

how cheap is cheap? Im looking for a set of upper & lower adjustable for my Cutlass. If you see another set for a pretty reasonable price let me know. Im poor so they dont have to be a name brand as long as they get the job done

Been very busy with the car, not much time on the net. Here are some updates on what I've been doing along with some picture and videos.
The manual box is out of a 78 Malibu, I bought it locally. Install went fine, that it all done now. Tore out the a/c, and now have a block off plate with my MSD mounted on it. Next was to tackle to rear end. I tried to use my Wolfe uppers and lowers but turns out that uppers for a 9inch differ from a 8.5. I had plans to put my 9inch in the car, but sold the rear to my brother for his '78 wagon. The wolfe uppers would not fit so I ended up using HIS Spohn uppers. We ended up breaking off the brake line that goes to the rear brakes, but will get that fixed tomorrow. The rear is under the car now and looks great, but I don't have pics of the rear after paint. The rear end came with new brakes along with c-clip elims.
Next on the list was to tackle my brake problem, the cam did not produce enough vaccume to make my brakes work correctly. I was told over and over again to just put a pump in line to fix the problem, but I did not want to depend on a pump to stop my car. I did the conversion with the help from malibudave over on MR. He was a HUGE help and made the swap much cheaper than a TRZ or TNT swap. I am using a GM master from a '78 Malibu that I got from the local NAPA along with his plate and his brake rod. When you do the manual swap new calipers are needed. I I shopped at Advanced Auto and got 30% off with the discount code. I ordered stainless brake lines, ceramic pads, and a fuel pressure regulator. I ordered the bigger calipers from Speedway Motors.
On the list but not really being tackled at this time is the fuel system. I have a eldebrock manual pump that I THINK the part # is 1170 but I could be wrong. I am going to run stainless lines along with AN fittings for the whole system. The regulator is on it's way from a member of MR (maliburacing.com). That's as far as I've gotten on the fuel system idea, still need to make it all come together. Last on the list was to install my shifter the CORRECT way.

Last fall I half-*ss put the shifter in the car in order to use to the next day. I bent a peice of 1/8 alum plate in the shape of a U just wide enough to go over the tunnel. Next I fabbed up another U-shaped peice but much smaller to be able to install the front of my console to, This was to almost mimic the stock shifter. The shifter was bolted to the big plate, and the big plate was bolted to the tunnel.
