I bought this crossmember to put a 200R4 in my Malibu, and I was disappointed. It is a smaller dimension of rectangular steel than the original Jeg's crossmember I bought eight years ago for a TH350. In TH200-TH350 cars, it needs an extension on the driver's side, which I fabricated from rectangular tube (drilled four holes). The biggest problem is that it hits the floorboard under the driver IN A BIG WAY. The instructions caution that if your body bushings are 'mushed' you may have this problem. To my semi-trained eye, it looks like it was built wrong - the arch for the exhaust under the driver actually looks 'higher' than the one on the passenger side - this is where the factory catalytic converter is, sot the floor IS higher on that side.
I looked at it nine ways to Sunday to see if I could modify it. Then I decided to put new body bushings under the car. Then life got in the way.
So - it's only $139 - and it will fit your 200-4R. Jeg's does not explain why it does not fit the Cutlass and El Camino. I do know that later years of those cars came with the 200-4R, so I conclude that the frame holes won't line up. Except the Monte Carlo and Regals came with the 200-4R, so...I have no idea. Perhaps the pictures will help. I made a pattern, and plan to fab my own - when life allows. I may have a lightly used Jeg's crossmember for sale soon...
