I've heard conflicting answers to this in the past, but does anyone know for 100% certainty if the Jegster crossmember listed as fitting the TH400 will work with the 2004r transmission ( in a G-body off course )?

This one; http://www.jegs.com/i/Jegster/550/41053 ... #moreDetai

Nobdy knows the answer to this?

I do know that the TH400 crossmember can generally be used with the 200-4R transmission. Both trannys share the same mounting point measurements.
If the X-member shown is in fact the one for the TH400/ 200-4R, then it does not need the leftside frame extension.
200-4R X-members generally mount straight across, where as the TH350 type is on a diagonal, much like the one shown.
For your '85 442, it would already include the extended frame on the leftside. Therefore your mounting points would be straight across.

I agree. Iceman (Rick) does make a nice product. I have one of his earlier G-Force type X-members, and the workmanship is exemplary.

Well I ordered the Jegster, so we'll see if it fits. They claim it will, but they don't list it as such, not to mention their lame inaccurate 'will not fit a Cutlass Supreme BS, which everybody knows isn't true.

The Iceman crossmember was a consideration, but I feel it's overpriced and it's just bare metal. If it came powdercoated ( or at least with an appropriate paint job ), I might of bought one.

Hope you don't have any exhaust fitment issues, the jegster crossmembers were designed with one particular header in mind. Part of the price of Iceman's crossmember is because it is chrome moly, and only weighs 8 pounds but is still strong.
