307 with an electronic carb on it... it gets fuel just fine in first, in fact plenty of it..

i was having the same problem but i think i just figured it out. my issue ended up being a hidden vacume line that was disconnected and another that was loose but still looked like it was hooked up. im noticing the carbs on these things along with the emmissions stuff are very finicky , so much that even one connected but not tight vacume line was enough to trip the check engine light and make it seem that my trans was shifting early. but since you have a th350 i cant say that we are having the same problem. wait dont th350s have a vacume line that goes to the trans? if there is which im pretty sure it has one , if its blocked or cut it would mess with the shifting.

*an electronic carb on it with nothing plugged in.. my car has no ECM module harness at all, was gonna order one this week... need it to hook up the new heater

If you're running a CCC carb without the ECM hooked up, I'd forget about the trans and deal with the fact your engine is getting WAY too much fuel. If you're still running the stock CCC distributor too, you also have zero timing advance. Your car has to run like a gas guzzling turd.

Where are you planning on ordering an ECM harness from? The only place you're going to find one is a junkyard or in the parts wanted section here. You can't buy them new. You don't need an ECM setup to have working heat either.

P.S. A TH350 trans did not come stock in your car. Are you sure it's a 350 or is it a TH200?
lol, i know its eating too much fuel... and it is a gas guzzler. 5 bucks gets me to school and back every day, 3 miles there and 3 miles back. and o reilly has one from like pioneer or some sh*t, i didnt know how much it was tho... and what do i need to hook up the heater? thats what im really worried about.. but i can handle the gas mileage for now, i need to actually be able to drive it though...
and when i said ECM i meant the ENTIRE wiring harness for the motor that goes to the computer in the passengers kick panel.

I have an entire wiring harness for an 84 Monte. Lemme know comes with sensors n ecm

lol, i took it out today.. did fine in all gears for a while, then after a few minutes and heading up a hill, in third it began to sputter again... lol what in the hell is going on with my car?

I would pass on the Monte ECM harness personally. I know the O2 sensor is on the other side amongst other possible issues you'll just end up having to work around. Easier to get one from an Olds V8 Cutlass someone here is parting out or just get a non CCC Qjet and distributor and forget the computer.

I can't help you on your heater because I have no idea what is wrong with it and what state it's currently in. If someone actually went to the trouble of removing the ECM harness ( and then keeping the CCC carb and distributor ) then who knows what sort of other havoc this guy caused. You're best bet is a Chassis Service Manual for your car or you'll just have to go into it blind.

And again I'll ask; are you sure you have a TH350 transmission? I ask because if you have a different transmission ( one with a lockup converter ), then maybe your lockup solenoid is sticking which is a common problem.

P.S. It was a PITA removing my ECM harness from my car intact. You will have lots of fun installing a new one ( the way it was from the factory )....

Shifts into second, runs fine at first the sputters like its running out of gas. Its a th350.

you had it right on your original post...it was running out of gas...

lol well, i no longer need to worry about this engine, its TOAST. not even worth the effort to try and fix, its only a 307. time for the 455  well at least a 403...
