Im no mechanic so dont flame me for not knowing, but where do you hook up the kick down or do you need it?

I have an 85 Monte SS that has it just hanging next to the carb. Came like that and in the process of fixing the car, and not really sure about this.

Thats your kick down linkage, I would get a Holley Carb book if you don`t have the original one. There is also a short video on YouTube explaining on how to do it.

is your trans a th350 or a th200r4 (overdrive)? If you've driven it like that with the cable unhooked with a 200r4, the trans is probably toasted. Th350, wont hurt it.

So it does need hooked back up? Its a TH350 trans... the car has not been driven by me as of yet. Not sure about previous owner. It was buried in a shed for a looooonnngggg time. Bought the car pretty much without seeing it for a steal and was expecting just a body. I got whats pictured in my avi and posts.

If it's a TH350 transmission it's just the kick down/passing gear.

Does it need to be hooked up? No, but it helps with limited hp cars to help it accelerate quicker. If you got lots of HP the cars going to pull passed its use quickly anyways.

I run full Manual valve body's in all my trannies so l never run with the kick down hooked up.
