when they were really little then band clamp was tight enough but the face shield would rest on their chest so I would make them wear my old Oxy Goggles when watching me weld. Once they reached 10 or so they would fit into the band clamp and full face shield. They would have so much fun with a stick welder and couple bars of steel. Don't forget the good leather gloves to protect from the Arc burn and a fan before they bring on the fun !

I don't mind getting them a good helmet so if they want to try welding a good helmet should last them years. I'd rather spend money on a good auto dim helmet than on a less expensive one that they will grow tired off without the auto dim
I don't buy the grandkids birthday or Christmans gifts, the rest of their extended family spends way to much and the kids don't even remember what they got. So at times like this they get something the can use and want.
