Buick, Ford and Chevy all used that style shifter in the sixties on some models, so the '70 Camaro wasn't the first, and comparing that monstrosity to the Camaro shifter is equivalent to saying a log truck is based on a Silverado.

Wow, looks a lot better in there than I thought it would. 8)

i like it, its not as bulky as i thought it be which is a good thing..still cant figure out for the life of me how to hook up the reverse lights and set it up to only start in park and nutral and the instructions dont help much if ANY one can explain this in lamens terms i would be very appreciative

After $300, two tries and 3 months latter because it was faulty and incorrect on the first one, I would not recommend ordering a kilduff shifter unless you are using it for a rat-rod. Yes, they are stout but overall craftsmanship is shotty. With the use of JB Weld (NOT JOKING) to hold on a rear plate. The blatantly visible seams should be welded then ground down smooth. Not tacked then ground leaving the seam (crack) visible. Shifter arms are uneven. The ratcheting action still dont work.

I'm happy with the overall quality, will have to see how it holds up, but it's a far cry from the BM Megashifter as far as I am concerned. Welds look good. Shifter arms are identical in length and precise on mine. Had a little trouble hooking up the reverse lights, but with some patience (about 20 min) I finally figured it out. Don't know what you mean by "rear plate", there is no JB weld anywhere on the one I have. Wish the leads for the LEDs would have been longer, but that was easily rectified. No disappointments here.
