ok so i want to get a set of kyb gas adjust shocks locally, i know i can get them online but i dont wanna pay shipping. i looked up napa and they only had the shitty gr-2's or something and i dont want those. anyone know where to get em?

I see oriell'y has them. Try a local muffler shop and maybe they can order them for you. Also, some sights have free shipping, if you spend so much. Not sure if you are doing all 4 or not, but I would not rule out online. 😀

thanks for the info. i was just planing on doing the fronts because i have air shock in the back and they are only a year or 2 old.
*edit* woah $57 a shock!? thats more than $20 a piece than summit. i guess ill just order them online

If your spending $60/ shock I wouldn't go with KYB but instead get a pair of Bilstein's. Much nicer shock!

well the kyb's off of summit are $33 each, trust me im not about to drop $120 on a set of shocks. even if i did have that kind of money i think i would still go with the kyb's. i have allways liked a stiff shock. how are the bilstein's anyway?

i got the gr-2 rear shocks for my cutlass. I didn't get fronts yet. Are the gr-2s that bad?

Bilstein's stiffen up the ride but they still allow compliance and even though the handling is stiffer it doesn't translate into a harsher ride.

I've never run KYB's but know plenty of people that have. They prefer to call them "Kill Your Back"

Like most things, you get what you pay for. However $33 for a KYB shock is better than spending the same amount on a regular stock replacement shock from Midas, etc.
Heck, my QA1's single adjustable shocks in the rear of my '87 were $140/ea. I really wanted double adjustable shocks all around but the prices jumped to $250/ea or so for those. Then on top of that there's Penske shocks that are in the $1000+/shock.

I guess it just depends on what it is you are doing with the car and what you expect to get out of it.

I have KYB's (life time warranty) on my SS for 20 + years and no problems. No back issues car rides smooth as a cadillac handles as good or better than new, at the time they were a few dollars more then the best Monroe's at the local auto parts store at that time. Do want to try Blistens next go around.

I've also used KYB's in my wagon for over 20 yrs and I've been pleased with the ride comfort, control and handling. Although a bit firm, but I prefer a firmer ride.
I've also used KYB's on a VW bus and a '71 Buick Skylark with GS springs.

Bilsteins are a great shock. I've used them on an old Porsche to replace the old Koni's that were in there. Nice road feel, great handling, and comfort is not compromised.

I had KYB's gas adjust on the front to try them out and they blew apart in less than a year...I'm running Afco shocks now and like them
