Installation on the camino wasn't hard especially with a buddy n some beers. Make sure to post pics/videos after the install. You will not be disappointed.

So i need a buddy with beers hope he drinks after intallation 8) But i will put up a video after is it hard to take off lens?

What I'd like to know is, for the El Camino/wagon taillights, how are you able to get the LED circuit boards inside?
Does it require having to pull the actual lens from the housing? I realize that the LED cluster bulbs fit exactly where the old 1156-57 bulbs went.

I guess I should've looked back in this thread. 😳 It's pretty much the same way you pulled the Cutlass taillight housing and lenses apart.
I'm curious as to what this would cost us wagon/ Elky guys. :?: Even if it comes in kit form, I'd be interested in a kit.

I used a dremel to cut the lenses off on the camino. Ive heard putting them in a oven on low heat makes them able to pull apart by hand or with a screwdriver. Also using repro taillights is recommended but if you're poor like me you use what you got. Longroof, on wagons/caminos you have to also cut part of the housing so the led board will lay flat. When I reassembled mine I used fiberglass to close up the old bulb holes and enclosed the whole housing in fiberglass, glad it doesn't show because it looks like *ss but it keeps the water out.

Thanks Mr. Hernadez,
I appreciate the info and feedback on the lenses. What did you do as far as your backup lights are concerned? were they on a separate circuit on the LED board?
I thought about using a heatgun and a utility knife to pull it apart. My old lenses look like sh*t anyway.

Yes, the backup lights are a separate board, they come plug n play but larry sent me the wrong one so I just hardwired it in...and boy are they bright! Try some 2k grit wet sandpaper and meguiars PlastX to polish up the taillenses...and dont forget a few drops of dish liquid in the wetsanding water.

Thanks man,
These light housings were my originals that cracked after I had blue dots in them. I actually made flat, old school custom lenses out of red plexiglass. I know they won't refract like the originals, but the original lenses are underneath the plexiglass. I also cut the backup lenses off so I could lay the plexiglass flat. As far as backup lights are concerned, I could either cut in another opaque white lens, or use separate lights under the bumper.
I figured with an array of LED's it would brighten these up. Have you thought about using rubber grommets of plugs to cover the bulb holes? A little dap of silicone and you're good to go.
BTW, thanks for the advice and tip on polishing the lenses. These are beyond polishing,,,

Here's what those lenses looks like.

I so want LED's for the wagon. I would love to see install pics on an Elky/wagon. I had though about this some, and was going to make a new back housing, just cutting off the lens with a small flange to attach the rear housing too. Making it serviceable if needed.
