If I get a complete L31 Vortec 5.7L out of a 96-99 truck, can I use the L31's serpentine belt and accessory setup? As in run the factory setup of the motor's front end. Custom A/C lines is not a big deal. I can have those made.

There is a member on here who is running the accessory drive from a '95 Suburban in a Grand Prix. I can't remember if the '96 and up is the exact same or not. I can compare the setup on the front of the vortech to a '95 or older engine tomorrow at work and see if they're the same. Maybe someone who already knows the answer will post before then.

Good deal. Thanks. I guess the question is when I get my bone yard L31, do I plan on converting the front end over to a 87-95 Serpt system like I have on my 89 K5 5.7L or can I use the L31's setup... I guess I should have asked that. Opie- Thanks in advance.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've had a busy couple of days. I checked a Vortec accessory drive against a TBI accessory drive and they are very similar. They use a different alternator and A/C compressor but they are pretty close to the same size. Unfortunately, the engines I checked had already had the accessories removed and I could only compare the brackets.

I'm guessing that if the TBI accessory drive will fit in a G Body that the Vortec drive would also fit. Hopefully someone here has tried it and can give a definitive answer.

This is the TBI drive with an A/C delete pulley installed.

They're very similar.

Great pics, thank you!!! I think it would work. I just dropped off my "metal" factory radiator which is leaking to a old school radiator shop in Tampa that boils them out and solders them up. That mechanical fan has got to go. I want the newer CS style 105+Amp alternator like my '89 K5 Blazer has (5.7L TBI w/factory serp) so I can run a LS1 F-body coolan fan setup. I believe I can make that work with a controller.
