Just thought I'd post a couple pics if my latest project. It's a new show sign I made for my GN. I've had this donor / base in the attic for over 15 years, and decided to do something with it. It started life as a Rhino Lining display sign / brochure holder ( I used to be in the truck accessory business ).
I removed the glued-on brochure holder, and filed the original curved plexi, until it was smooth. I went to home depot and bought a thin sheet of aluminum, and clamped it to my welding table, and cut it to the exact dimension as the plexi. I used an adhesive from Loc-Tite, and glued it to the curved plexi using my upholstery roller, and held it together using some plastic "spring clamps" overnight. I then designed the sign layout, and took it to a local sign / wrap shop, and had them print it in carbon fiber vinyl. Then I installed it onto the aluminum sheet, using a bondo spreader wrapped in a microfiber cloth.
I also drilled holes in the bottom of the "podium" and attached some hooks to hang my Buick license plate. I then attached my GN magnets, and applied my favorite GBodyForum.com sticker, to the base.
It was a hit, and a lucky charm... I won (2) awards on Saturday ( Best Paint & Best Engine ), and (1) award on Sunday ( Best in Class ). Here's the pics...
