Greetings from dirty Jersey beautiful Malibu what are the other upgrades?
Two of the cosmetic upgrades will be to replace the sagging headliner and try to resolve the cracks in the dash pad. The bucket seat interior
is near mint and should come to life with some detailing. The clear coat on all of the horizontal surfaces is at the end of its life, so I will have to address that later this year. I am not sure if I will keep the vinyl roof. I purchased a better stereo and some top rated speakers.
Trust I answered your question - thanks for the encouragement!

Should be pretty simple to find rear end upgrade parts.

Grab a set of Moser axles, $260-275, and your 7.5 (converted to 7 5/8") will be set to handle 400HP with street tires. Many will advise to chuck out the 7.5, but as long as you aren't on sticky tires and launching hard, then it will stick around forever. Especially for a lot of cruising. Of course, if funds allow, then go the 9" route, but that will be about triple of the 7.5" upgrade.

Welcome from NC! you couldn't have sumbled across a better group of gearheads here, as they are always willing to share their collective wisdom.

Beautiful malibu, love the color, and a perfect wheel choice!

I couldn’t agree with you more about 7.5” and 7.625” diffs! Avoid those savage sticky launches and the stock diff will be just fine.
