Let me clear the air!

Another knock against all 80's through mid 90's at least is the R4 compressor. They aren't great, they leak, then make noise then eventually seize. Sure the seal can be changed. R+R the clutch is a PIA.

I have also owned 3 GM fwd. The 82 Chevy Citation was ok, the 84 Buick had plenty of issues, bought with too high of km. I did like the carbed chevy 2.8 V6. The Varijet could be tempermental if they needed rebuilt, the float setting was critical. I had to pull top off one in the Citation when out the needle came off the float. The Buick must have had really tall gears with the TH125C. A bit gutless off the line but around 40 mpg highway. The 88 Olds Delta 88 with 3800 had good power and mileage and looked pretty good in red. I only paid a few hundred, which was too much. My parents only paid $500 for the 81 Delta 88, was worth 10 times what this one was. It had a hard cold start I could not track down. I changed the coil packs and replaced the often wasted 3800 balancer, saw a few. Oh, if you want a really loud obnoxious sounding car, add a glass pack to one of these. I found early EFI cars of any make were a PIA to fix drivability issues. They rarely left codes and flow charts were your friends. I remember my old boss quite often would narrow it down to couple of parts and just replace both. The customer was happy their car was fixed🤷‍♂️.

I can’t remember the last time I wanted a new GM product. My last few brand new car purchases were a 10 Cherokee Srt8, 14 Taurus SHO, 16 Mustang GT … the only GM was my wife’s 16 Buick Enclave which rode way nicer and better interior finishes than the Chevy Traverse.

Nothing GM really excites me. My favorite and most underrated car was the SHO. That car was fun to drive, especially with a tune. I chose that over the Chevy SS and it’s V8 because it didn’t feel right. It had power, but idk. Same thing with the 04 GTO. I almost pulled the trigger on a new one, but the car looked and felt cheap to me. So I got a new Ford Lightning. That thing was fast and got looks.

My father was a big Olds and Pontiac guy. That’s why I love my gbody. But GM hasn’t kept it up, in my opinion.

I do appreciate the tech of the LS, and as a car guy I love to see any engine transplant whether it’s a LS or an BOP engine. I guess I see both points of view. Us car guys gotta stick together.

Yeah, GM has sh*t the bed time and time again, they have really lost their way, especially in the styling IMHO. They used have some of the nicest vehicles. They were way ahead of styling in the 80's compared to Ford and Chrysler. The G body were some of them for sure. What are they Chrysler for Pete's sake?😁

‘14 1500 Silverado 4wd towing 9000lbs. No hill slowed it down. It has all the *ss required to run 7mph everywhere.

I overloaded the sh*t out if it, and it gave up nothing. 91500 on the odometer. A freakin hemp in a 4wd truck won’t get that empty, Ford, forget about it.

It ain’t a diesel and I don’t want def fluid and I won’t delete anything.

Oh yeah, 5.3 with VVT and DOD.

Yeah, those Gen 5 drive awesome, they feel like every bit of their rated power. Those years look nice too👍. I may pick one up when my Dakota dies.

The Blazer was so ugly, two sites would not let me download it on my phone.

That is impressive towing at 7 mph🤣. I know you meant 70 mph, which is impressive, these trucks pull stupid hard👍.

And it gets 24 on the highway empty.

Cadillac's are about the only decent looking new GM's but they come with a Cadillac price tag unfortunately.
