Hello all, I recently installed a 4in harwood lift off fiberglass hood. I'm just using the regular hood pins in the outer four corners of the hood, but when I reach 60mph the center of the hood flexes. I'm worried it will get too much air and crack the hood up the center. I did use the search and found a lot of member just secure the hoods in the outer corners and have no issues. Do I need two more pins in the front center, or is this normal.

Most people that buy a lift off hood use it for drag racing only and since there is no front latch set up or mounting provisions for the hinges they are typically mounted using flush mount Dzus fastenters with at least four across the front and around three or so on the sides.
The use of hood pins for a lift off hood usually is not done since they really only hold it from lifting but don't actually lock it in place as secure as a fastener and most consider it not cosmetically appealing since it would require a least six or more to secure it.
You typically buy a kit for hoods that comes with all the hardware similar to below:

OK, I just bought 2 more hood pins that I'm going to throw on the front. Question is where would the studs mount with them being towards the center front of the hood?Anyone with pictures, or insight?

put an air dam on the front to reduce the high pressure build up in the engine bay...our race car is all fiberglass and we put hinges in the hood for two reasons, the rules and it takes two to remove the hood when it's on just with pins. For street use what do you do when you remove the hood, in racing it just get placed on the roof but we don't care if the paint on the roof gets scratched a bit.

When needed I just remove the hood myself and put it on the roof scratches aren't an issue as it needs paint anyway. I'll do some looking on the air dam but for now I'm going to install the other two pins, I'm just not sure where most put them
