I. Have a 267 v8 the lifters were slightly ticking very minimal smoking the car did sit a few years and only bein ran a little..I canged the oil with straight 30 weight ..now its getting worse .! Now what? Should I pull valve covers and checkin it out.or am I screwed?

Change the oil to 10/30. Let the engine warm up to operating temperature. Turn the car off. Pull the bolts to take valve covers off. Start back up and do one side at a time. Loosen nut till it ticks. Start to tighten till it goes away and another half turn. Do this to every one and both sides. Problem solved. Then take to the car wash to wash the oil of the manifolds because you will have oil that squirted out. Hope this helps.

I'd take a quart of oil out and add a quart of transmission fluid to the crankcase. Run the engine for 20 minutes and then change the oil. The transmission oil will clean any varnish that has built up

some use diesel fuel instead of the transmission fluid. You can also pour some transmission fluid down the car when it's running to clean to top end. But do this in an area where no neighbors will complain about the white smoke..

i tryed the transmission fluid and ran it for a week or so and than changed it to sae 30 weight ... il try the lifter adjusting,, are u sure i wil not damage anythin? and this will fix my issues?

I just installed a new higher lift hydraulic cam in my 265cid v8. If you follow my directions to the tee. It will run like a dream. I cut out the top off and old junk valve cover to help keep the oil in too.

its running pretty well now it smokes when u first startr her for like 3 or 4 seconds but than goes away and when u jump on it it kinda has a weird sound but its not real bad it almost sounds like the same sound a carb makes when it gets lots of air in it when u open up secondarys. so i think its ok . the lifters dunt tick . any more

The smoke is from worn valve stem seals or guides. Oil drips past them when the car sits. Glad the lifters arent bothering you anymore.
