Have a update on my problem took the car to a shop I have used for other work. They have the shiftier working good from park down into "overdrive" was told going past that to Drive will b ring back the problem. Would have to uninstall the Lighting rods for bench repair, not knowing what parts would be needed or even if they can be purchased I am a little reluctant to proceed to the next step. I really don't care if the 1 and 2 rods are working for what I use the car for.

Question here any idea the potential trouble spot and part's needed to allow free movement of the shiftier??? I do realize this is a shot in the dark but perhaps some one has been down this road before.

Funny, bench repair. Like to see one of those guys take them out, pull them apart...to find out all they needed to do is align the cam....however they may still take them apart....then not put them back correctly.

X2. The cam can be aligned in the car. Taking it out usually means they are clueless.

Tobyp your alignment suggestion "place shiftier in D" are you referring to Overdrive "D" or next selection down??

88hurstolds My home is "Monticello WI" but the car is in Sun City West AZ had enough of the "fluffy white stuff" so am a SNOWBIRD !! Also are you recommending replacing the cable???

Also has anyone seen a adjustment document from either Hurst or GM on the proper setup here. I do trust the shop as they have done other work for me and others with good results. Not to "Knock" the mechanic but alignment on this is something they just don't run across every day it's not the normal item. So this does complicate the picture some what. For you guy's that have one and work on your own its sort of old hat stuff. This is where a service bulletin from Hurst/GM would be of great help.

There isn't a service bulletin that I am aware of.
There is no need to remove the shifter or take it apart so I would just get a new cable and adjust with the trans in 1st, drive and park and have the mechanic take their time and use intuition.

What scares me on a situation like this is your console getting cracked or damaged by someone not knowing how everything is put together and how frafile and irreplaceable everything is... just makes me cringe.

I always adjust in drive, all the way back because this is where you need to have the gear shift lever in place to get to 2 and 1 gears. If you have them aligned at D, you have all basis covered.

Hey guys, didn't someone on here put up a diagram or a link on the this shifter and how to align the rods? I remember reading it a few years back. Did you guys ever see it?
