idk what up with younger generations heads (even though am 18) with them falling into thinking ricers are the sh*t and that they can go fast *ss hell .. they all judge how fast a car is by taking a look at what the speedometer maxes out at lol ive seen it happened before ... i remember reading in some forum saying " i cant believe a 1.8 liter Honda could smoke a 5.0 mustang ..... now imagine if Honda made a 5.0 engine lol " they have obviously never been on a real car

I think it's the indoctrination caused by these kids' yuppie parents buying nothing but Japanese cars so they never really even think about good ole' American muscle. Growing up I never really knew too many kids that tricked out Japanese cars (I'm 34) and maybe that's just because of where I grew up.

This is sad. Too many kids nowadays are only interested in the ricers with whale tail spoilers, 1000 lbs worth of ground effects, and a 5,000 watt stereo system. Not saying that's the case with your kid but just in general.

I understand where you guys are coming from though. I spend half the week getting my car polished up for a show or cruise, getting it looking super good only to have some dude in a Camaro or Mustang pull in beside me. He could have faded paint, rusted wheels, a filthy engine compartment and a gutted interior yet everyone flocks to those cars because they are "cool". I even run into the same thing with g body montes and GNs. Those are the only g bodies that are considered to be "cool" while cutlasses are referred to as "grandpa's car" or "grocery getters".

Lol when I crank my Olds...everyone stares and looks scared for their lives!

He is just a Kid and is only 11 no big . My wife does not like my car as well as some friends I'm fine with it.The main thing is that you like it. My wife calls it the old mans car and I just tell her yes I'm a old man so thats why I like it so much. I think one day the value of these cars will go and if not who cares. I'm building the car for my self and if the kids don't like it there loss.

Funny story: I was trying to teach my boys about firearm safety and how to shoot, i.e. sight alignment, muzzle awareness, etc, etc.

Well anyway, my 10 y/o said he already knew how to shoot because he plays Call of Duty :lol:

He thought my Mossberg 12ga was a machine gun because it has a heatshield on it!

Not really. All that stuff on a j* car, is like big rims on a gbody. Actually worse to them. The whole import scene right now is all about keeping it OEM looking and just doing performance upgrades really. I would know, I also have a 92 integra gsr. 1 of 1200... so I'm on a couple forums for That, and you should see how the "ricers" feel about body kits and wings and sh*t.....but I kinda agree. sh*t, my Acura gets way better gas mileage, but I still drive my cutty everyday Hahaha.

I actually like a lot of imports. You know, the ones that actually have hp and handle well. Those are properly called tuners. Cars like the Subaru WRX, Hyundai Genesis, Nissan 350 and 370Zs, Mitsubishi Eclipse and Lancer Evolution, etc. What I can't stand is the kids who would rather spend several grand on fake hood scoops, gaudy ground effects, megawatt stereos, fart cans, and neon lights then actually put that money into performance mods. Sad part is that it is usually the American cars that get this treatment such as Cavaliers, Neons, and Focuses.

I feel you on that one WIKD, it's the same thing in Dallas too. From the parts suppliers that only have parts listed for the monte's and GN's, to the magazines (Hot Rod, HP Chevy) that's always dropping 500+HP big and small blocks into them :evil: . (I think a magazine dedicated to Oldsmobile needs to be published*specifically the G-BODIES :wink: ) Of course you won't get a chance to see a new 2011/12 Olds on the streets anymore 😢 but I want to do more to my cutlass than putting Chevy/Buick/Pontiac parts on it!

i agree, it was the same way 22 years ago when i was eighteen, had a 79 regal with crager's, sun roof, bucket seats custom console and a 350 olds with a 375 thc, good looking car but couldn't get parts, everybody else had "chevy's" and "TA'S"
