Im putting an older engine in my 83 h/o, I will be eliminating my computer box.How do I get my lock up convertor to function without computer?

There is a couple of ways to do it. You can wire up a toggle switch and manually control it or there is kits available to automatically control it.

This website sells kits for a 200 R4 and 700 R4.

thanks ,is that kit hard to install

I think you have to pull the trans. pan to install some wiring but it isnt that hard. They have the instructions on the website so you can see exactly what you need to do.

Which one is better? the manually operated one or the the speed sensitive one? I need one but at the lowest price if possible.lol The price range on those kits can range widely. What are you guys using??? I need to get one ASAP because i eliminated my qjet carb with a Edelbrock. Help?

For that matter you could drive without it. It will cost a little MPG, but shouldn't be too much of an issue otherwise. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. I have been arguing with a mechanic friend of mine for years, but he insists it is not used for much else.

I was told that you could burn up the transmission not locking it up. Supposedly caused by a difference in line pressure from when its locked and unlocked, not from the convertor slipping slightly. I have no idea if that is correct though.

I never got around to installing the lockup conversion when I switched my transmission and have been running it for months without engaging the lockup and havn't burnt it up yet.
