Your definition of "upgrade" and mine are completely different.
Enlighten me sir. Wirkin with 84 regal that previous owners made my first g body learning experience a tidious advenventure on my budget an any insight before i spend money would now research and ask ?s to get more of a different outlook on my expense..

A 305 is just as much of a boat anchor as the 307 you have. Plus, you have to change the frame pads and possibly the transmission unless it's dual pattern. If you're insistent upon installing a Ch*vy motor, please do us Olds guys a favor and make the frame pads available instead of throwing them in the trash. They're getting hard to find.
Your easiest "upgrade" would be to drop in an Olds 350 or 403 and send your carb to Everyday (link in post #2). In the meantime, put some gears out back to make it feel peppier.

Any Oldsmobile brand v8 will swap in place of the 307. 403s are low comp but have 300+ftlbs out the gate. 350s are everywhere. 455s are torque monsters. Take your pic. A quadrajet is the best street carb tho.

To me, I dont see the edelbrock as an upgrade. My opinion on a second opinion for you would be to reinstall or find a quadrajet. Sounds like the intake is already made for a qjet. Qjet would eliminate the need for the adapter.

If this is just a daily driver or street machine, the qjet will work perfect for you and can be reused when you do the 350 swap.

You asked if it looked like the edelbrock needed a rebuild. Looks clean, but who knows what is inside. The outside could look great but could be terrible inside. Do you know what jets are installed?

I have had holley, edelbrock and quadrajet carbs. For tune, drivability and fuel economy, I would bolt down a qjet every time. Once a qjet is properly setup and tuned, they are solid.

Some, but not all 305s. Some 305s like the HO L69s with 9.5 to 1 CR can easily be upgraded to make up to 300 hp with street manners, hardly an anchor.

However, I agree that a larger Olds motor is a more sensible swap for an factory Olds 307 powered car.

So sum odd months later. I flood easily. Gonna look into smaller jets. And new floats. Was tuned very well till earlier. Gotta replace few items. Spark plug wires. Altenator. With that being said. What size jet is ideal?

All depends on what your engine wants. When does it flood? Float could be sticking or have a hole in it.
