My 88 cutlass has the famous rust on the rear frame rails. It's not horrible at the moment but there are some small spots that are rusted through. I'm planning on getting them fixed but have read that normally if the rear rails are rusted that there more than likely is other rust issues. I also don't have access to a welder so I more than likely would have to take the car in to have this repair done. My other option that I know absolutely nothing about would be doing a frame off. I came across a 84 cutlass frame from oklahoma on craigslist. The guy says its very clean. I know doing a frame off would be a lot of work but what Im not sure of is it even possible to do in my garage, or would I need a full shop with a lift to do it? I feel like it would be cheaper and morre correct to buy the frame on craigslist rather than just patch the rear frame rails. I'm afraid I either won't have the knowledge, or the tools to do it right and will get stuck half way through or something. If I'm going to spend the time and money I want to do it correctly so any advice is appreciated.
