I have been lurking around for a few weeks now and decided today is the day to register.

I drove a 1980 Cutlass Calais from 1991 - 1998 and well over 200k- kms until I had to put her down. Family obligations came first and I had no spare $$ to keep it up so I had to drive it right into the wreckers. It was a great car right up until the end and I still miss it. Rotten floors, and frame rails and all.

Fast forward almost 10 years , a Wife ( she was my girlfriend with the Calais ), 2 kids, and a dog later and I am back into looking for a G-Body as a toy.

I am keeping an eye out for a hardtop, buckets & console, V8, to mod / restore over the course of the next few years as it will only be a weekend driver. I am hoping to get back in the game with a > $3500.00 budget to get what I want. I can do all the wrenching on the driveline but Paint and Body get costly real quick.

I'll keep an eye in to for-sale forums

Success !!!! Sort of....

I picked up a clean '84 SS yesterday. I went and looked at it and although it falls a little short in what I wanted I have all the resources to make it what I want.

I will update with Pics once I get some time as it's sitting on the hoist at a friends backyard shop right now,

but for now....

the Pros
- 84 SS Hardtop ( White with Blue Stripes )
- Blue Interior is in great shape with no fade or tears
- undercoated and garaged for most of its life
- floors and frame are in great shape
- repainted in '96 and there is no rust or bubbles
- kickass stereo ( 4-10's + 4-6's in the trunk alone )
- wheels and tires are in great shape

the Cons
- 223000 kms ( or more )
- no posi
- 3speed metric transmission ( with a shift kit no less ??!!)
- there is a hole the size of a dime in the exhaust manifold
- center link and 1 upper balljoint are shot
- A/C has not been hooked up for at least 6 years

So first off this weekend I put on a set of Edlebrock TEC Headers ( friends spare parts ) and change the center link and ball-joint for safety cert.

I am working a deal with the same friend to purchase an 8.5 rear 3.42 with Auburn Posi and a 200r transmission ( both from a T-boned '85 - 442 ) to install over the winter. Then I start saving my pennies for the 350 HO Deluxe Crate Motor from GMPP ( appx $3500 )

For now I just want plates and be able to cruise the rest of the weekends away then start the projects.

wish me luck
