Looking to Purchase First G Body

Greetings Gbodydam & all; Since I like exclusive, I suggest buying it. You'll have something few others have! Back in 2007(?) I helped my buddies wife sell her T-Type a 87 to one of the Jeg's phone guys (order taker). Anyway he paid $8000 if memory serves. It had a few more miles than the one you're looking at, but was a little better kept (like in cleaner). Since it being a 84 is a little less desirable, $4000 seems reasonable. Offer less & see what happens. What caught my eye was the steering wheel, the leather looks to still be in good condition. If the frame is solid ya can't go wrong. And being a 84 it may never hit mag a value so you can soup it up. You won't hurt the value much. Good luck Ol'e Bob.

86-87 models are going for 3 times or more his asking price if they are all sorted out.

I'll echo what most are saying.... if the underside is in good shape, then it's worth the $4k.

on the quarter panel rust: if there's no rust from underneath, then check the t-top seal and around the quarter window.... my 82 regal had a half dollar sized hole in front of the wheelwell, and when I pulled the interior panel, I found that the window seal had been leaking down into the the area, and rusting from the inside out.

another area these cars rot out in, is the underside of the doors, take a peek! 😉

quick axle i.d for you:

7.5" - notice the "fangs" on the bottom

8.5" - no "fangs", but the casting comes out to a squared edge

the 8.5" rear can take a whole lot more punishment that the 7.5, therefore more desireable...

HTH, and hopefully we'll have another new member soon!
