How do you go about doing it?

Get the special tool you need to remove and re install the retainer plate (Sears / Craftsman and others sell this specialty tool). There are (3) torque screws inside the column that hold it together. Tighten them up and it will be as good as new. Do a youtube search and you'll likely find what you need.

If you have no working knowledge of how to fix this, You might save your self a lot of grief by finding someone that does to help you.
You will need a few special tools also. I found this on another forum, It is a good write up on how to fix a loose column. Good luck.

Awesome write-up! This is very well written and detailed with pics and all necessary information.

Thanks for a great presentation.

The part that is lose is the whole part that the steering wheel is attach to and the lever for the turn signals and tilt lever is attached to.
