hey guys, I have a cutlass with a big block chevy 454. I'm running the moroso side mount for a stock GM one wire alternator. I have the battery located in the rear. my ground cable goes straight to my cage which is welded straight to the frame. I changed the 2" pulley to a 4" to speed the rpms up. still the battery will not stay charged. do I need a higher output alternator or a heavy duty harness coming from the battery. oh yeah, my positive cable goes to a solenoid on my firewall. any help would be greatly appreciated.

how long does it last before it goes dead

at a full charge off the battery charger, I can make one pass and then its hard to start be fore I make another run. I run my electric water pump and fan to cool the engine down between runs. I know this is a drain on the battery, but the alternator is not charging enough. The alternator is a new stock unit, I'm afraid it just doesn't put out enough.
