Moog 5660 cut 1/2 coil will give a 2" drop. They sell for under $100. If you want to use an open ended coil in the back so you can cut it use the F body rear spring isolator. It has a channel cut into it for the open spring and the center is open that perfectly fits the bubble for the stock pig tail spring

So GP, I believe you run this, or similar set up in front end of your car if I recall? I'm sure you're tired of endlessly discussing this but.....
Right now I have 5660 coils (uncut) and want to bring the front down about another inch, so I figure I'll cut 1/4 coil to do this, thereby also raising the spring rate some....my questions to you are, did you notice any negative difference in ride? Like too ridgid after the cut?
What is your overall tire size? Any bottoming or rub issues?
I think you run a Bilstein AK 1043 shock in front as it is shorter? Think that would be appropriate for a 1" drop or would the AK 1051 be better at closer to stock?

William, please feel free to weigh in on this as well if you've had some direct experience...

I'm trying to get my car back together on a tight budget and so trying to use what I already have, and make sure anything I buy is right the first time.....sorry for all the Q's, but thanks for whatever info you can give me.
GP, I was going to search through your past posts looking for info, but at 13 thousand + posts, I thought it better to just ask directly lol

PS. Sorry for the hijack Monte, I didn't think a new thread was neccessary

The drop spindle is probably the easiest way to get exactly what you need. They aren't hard to locate. A lot of people are putting lift kits on their gbody cars there days. Not me. The spindles don't change any of your stock ride or suspension only stance. And you don't have to wrestle that damn coil spring. A little late on the subject maybe an it's just my opinion.

1/4 coil will give you a 1" drop with the 5660 and It does make it a bit stiffer by approximately 5%. Asking if it too rigid depends on what someone calls too rigid. In the city it's not too bad but on the highway it's great and it corners like a go cart. I had 255 50 17 and they rubbed a bit so I rolled the fenders. I have F body spindles up front so they move the wheel out about 1/2" and in the rear I have a chevelle rear and that moves the wheels out 1 1/4" on each side so it's not really comparable to a G body with stock spindles and rear end. The front tires did hit the wheel well and cracked them so I now have 245 45 17 but I don't like the look of the short sidewall so I am going to get some 245 50 17 tires. If they hit the top of the wheel well I'll change the pin length of my lower ball joint or do something with the wheel wells.. As for the shocks if you are just dropping it 1" I'd stay with the standard length shock.
