I just put some 2" lowering rear springs on the Monte. The new springs are atleast a full coil shorter than the stock springs. The shocks I have are 2 years old and they are stock replacements from NAPA. I would hate to have to replace these since they are in great shape. Will these shocks be a problem with the lowering springs? When I google it all I get is Honda sh*t that doesnt apply at all to this car. I have seen some people use chains to limit travel so the springs dont fall out. Anyone have any experience with using 2" lowering springs with stock shocks? Thanks

I had used Stock shocks with 2" springs on my Malibu Wagon, the brown 79. They didn't last long. I ended up getting shorter bilstiens and haven't looked back.

But, my springs never fell out. I drove that car every day everywhere. I just think the shock was too long for the lowered travel.

I appreciate the input. Im going to keep these shocks for now and get shorter ones over the winter.

It depends on the height of the spring without a load on it. I dropped mine about 2 inches using a cut 83 Phoenix spring with the F body isolator for the open ended spring and the spring would fall out of place when jacking the car up. I used the shorter Bilstein shock that cured the problem.
